Tricksters walk

away with gold

Two persons threatened two women with what appeared to be toy pistols and walked away with 10 tolas of gold ornaments under the Chandanagar police limits on Monday.

According to the police, the miscreants approached Nisa Mathew residing in Madhu Vihar apartments at Nallagandla and enquired whether flats were available for rent.

She told them a flat was vacant and offered to show them the house as the keys were with her. As she went inside to fetch the keys, the culprits asked her for water.

Next, they entered the house, pulled out the toy pistol and threatened to kill her of she refused to part with the jewellery. She immediately handed it over to them. Nisa Mathew was alone in the house.

They are believed to have played the same trick with another resident, Srija. Later, the victims lodged a complaint with the Chandanagar police.

Two scooter-borne assailants snatched a six-tola gold chain from B. Sharada, working as an accountant in AG Colony, while she was waiting for an auto-rickshaw near Banjara function hall on Sunday night.

She is the wife of Vishnuvardhan and a resident of AG Colony in Yousufguda. The Saifabad police have registered a case.

Commits suicide

N. Dhanalakshmi (26) of Jawahar Nagar, who allegedly consumed poison on November 26, died on Sunday while undergoing treatment. She was the wife of Raju, an auto-rickshaw driver.

The couple got married seven years ago. Domestic problems drove her to resort to the extreme step, Alwal police said.
