Convicted in graft case

The Principal Special Judge for SPE and ACB cases, Hyderabad, convicted M. Balram, senior checking inspector in the office of the Assistant Supply Officer, Circle-IX, Civil Supplies Department, Hyderabad, and sentenced him to undergo three years rigorous imprisonment and pay a fine of Rs.3,000.

Die in road mishap

A mother and her daughter, who were travelling on a moped, were killed when they came under the rear tyres of a lorry at Saroornagar on Tuesday. Santoshi Agarwal (40) and her daughter, Kavita (19), were going to their bangle stores from Shalivahananagar when the mishap occurred.

The driver fled the spot. Kavitha was studying degree second year in Siddartha College.

Chain snatched

Two motorcycle-borne youngsters snatched away a gold chain weighing four tolas from Shakuntala Bai (65) while she, along with her husband, Radhaswamy Naidu, and daughter was going to the house of a relative at Kanajiguda, the Alwal Sub-Inspector, Mattaiah, said.

Cash stolen

Two unidentified persons took away Rs. 20,000 by diverting the attention of a person at HSBC bank's branch at Paradise on Tuesday. According to the Ramgopalpet police, Solomon of Bowenpally went to the bank to deposit Rs. 60,000. Two persons approached him saying they would help him in counting the cash. They counted and returned the money. Later, Solomon found the cash stolen.
