KARIMNAGAR, MARCH 11. The Communist Party of India district unit organised padayatra in the town on Friday highlighting the plight of people in the wake of prevailing drought conditions. Its secretary, Marri Venkat Swamy, launched the padayatra by garlanding the statue of Mahatma Gandhi. The yatra passed through all important streets of the town.

Mr. Swamy said farm labourers were forced to migrate to towns in search of employment due to poor drought relief works.

The CPI leaders - B. Sadashiva, N. Ramaiah, A. Mallaiah and B. Ashok -- and others participated in the yatra.
