CPI (ML) faction expels State leader

HYDERABAD OCT. 26. A major rift in the Phani Bagchi faction of CPI (ML) has led to the expulsion of the Secretary of the A. P. Provincial Committee, Vinod, on grounds of anti-party activities.

In a series of decisions, the Central Committee has also dissolved the A. P. Provincial Committee (APPC) with effect from October 18 and resolved to hold the State plenum to elect a new body. It also decided to hold a public meeting in Hyderabad on November 9 to commemorate the 19th death anniversary of Chandra Pulla Reddy.

Phani Bagchi, who is general secretary of the ML Committee, said in a press release here today that there were growing differences in the APPC for the past several years involving political, ideological and organisational position. This had developed into a serious situation forcing the central committee to intervene and decide to hold a provincial plenum.

However, some members of the APPC opposed the unanimous decision of the central committee on the issue of holding a plenum and insisted upon continuing their agenda. The central committee, at a meeting held on October 18 at an undisclosed place in India, viewed this attitude as a violation of the principles of democratic centralism as well as defiance of the unanimous decision to hold the plenum in AP.
