Councillors disrupt civic body meeting

CUDDAPAH, AUG. 1. The Cuddapah Municipal Council general body meeting was adjourned for a while on Saturday when some councillors protested against the fact that resolutions adopted in the last meeting were not recorded in the minutes book.

The councillors -- S. Mohiuddin Saheb, T. Sriramulu, Nazeer Ahmed and V.V. Chalapathi -- demanded that the meeting take up today's agenda only after including the four resolutions passed in the last meeting. The Municipal Chairperson, Bola Padmavathi, adjourned the meeting and resumed it after including the resolutions.

She promised to conduct the budget meeting within the next 10 days.

Ms. Padmavathi told the meeting that construction of six classrooms in the Municipal Urdu High School at a cost of Rs. 2.32 crores was proposed in the district master plan, when some members raised the issue of partial collapse of the roof in the school last week.

Teachers' counselling

Alleging irregularities in the counselling held yesterday for upgrading the secondary grade teachers as school assistants, Mr. Nazeer Ahmed questioned how counselling was held without intimating eligible teachers. Some members sought allotment of two cents of land to each councillor for providing housing.
