Corporators asked to quit posts

KURNOOL, JUNE 1. The TDP district president, Somisetty Venkateswarlu, has asked the corporators who defected to the Congress party along with former MLA, T.G. Venkatesh, to resign from their posts.

Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, he said that since the corporators won the seats on the TDP symbol, it was their moral responsibility to resign from the post and face the elections afresh. Mr. Venkateswarlu said the TDP supporters would hound the corporators if they stuck to their positions.

The TDP president said that with the exit of Mr. Venkatesh, the intra-party squabbles in the TDP would come to an end. Mr. Venkateswarlu expressed concern over the growing number of suicides by farmers in Kurnool district, saying that in the last 20 days 14 people died in the district. The TDP leader, A. Prabhakar, was also present at the press meet.
