Constable arrested

CUDDAPAH, AUG. 21. The Galiveedu police on Saturday arrested an APSP constable, H. Rangaswamy (PC 439), on charges of attempting to outrage the modesty of a woman, Krishnavenamma, who was rehabilitated from the flesh trade.

The constable has been placed under suspension pending regular enquiry and departmental proceedings were being initiated against him, said the Commandant of APSP (India Reserve) XI Battalion, Vasantha Kumar, in a press note today. The Commandant said the constable would be punished suitably on conclusion of the departmental proceedings.

The Galiveedu police registered a case against the APSP constable on charges of trying to outrage the modesty of the woman who was working in a fast food centre recently set up at Galiveedu by the district administration as part of rehabilitation of some women liberated from flesh trade.
