NIZAMABAD: Dichpally TRS legislator G. Ganga Reddy has expressed the hope that the ongoing talks between his party and the Congress for sharing of seats in the elections to the local bodies will fructify and both the parties will face the elections jointly.

Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, he said, in principle, leaders of both the parties came to an agreement over sharing of seats.

As per the tentative decision, the TRS was likely to contest 15 ZPTCs and as many Mandal Praja Parishads.

Initially, at the talks held between leaders of both the parties a couple of days ago, the TRS insisted on 18 ZPTCs and 24 MPPs - which they had secured in the last elections. However, the talks drew a blank with the Congress refusing to concede their demand.

Ministers D. Srinivas and Mohammad Ali Shabbir and the District Congress Committee president Gadugu Gangadhar and the TRS district convenor and Yellareddy MLA E. Ravinder Reddy, party senior leaders A. S. Posetty and Tirumal Reddy took part from the TRS.

Meanwhile, both the parties reportedly asked their cadres to file nominations without waiting for the outcome of the talks.

It is learnt that at the time of handing over B-Forms to the party official candidates the alliance partners were likely to ask other contestants to withdraw from fray.
