ONGOLE: Ongole MP Magunta Sreenivasulu Reddy has said that all Congress leaders are putting in united effort to win at least 30 out of 36 wards in Ongole municipality.

He pointed out that the PCC had given clear instructions that the MLAs should coordinate with MPs while selecting candidates and campaigning in municipal elections.

`Choice left to MLA'

As he did not want to encourage groups, he left the selection of candidates mostly to the MLA to ensure that the process was completely smoothly. He said the MLA also consulted him in some wards where there was a problem.

Mr. Sreenivasulu Reddy said that he was concentrating on Kavali municipality, which also fell in his constituency, because his sister-in-law, Magunta Parvathamma, MLA, was in-charge of the election there and sought his help.

He said that the Chief Minister, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, had telephoned him this morning and wanted him to spare some time for Ongole municipality too because Magunta family had some sway over voters here.

Dr. Rajasekhara Reddy wanted that the campaign should be done effectively to win 30 wards in Ongole.

Mr. Sreenivasulu Reddy later went to the house of Mr. Sreenivasa Reddy and they campaigned together in some wards. up the work.
