Committed to rooting out virus, says Muttamsetti

Tourism Minister Muttamsetti Srinivasa Rao, at a review meeting with officials here on Wednesday, reiterated that the State Government is committed to stamping out the COVID-19 pandemic.

“A total of 370 staffers will be appointed to provide better services to COVID-19 patients at VIMS Hospital. This figure includes 213 staff nurses, data entry operators and paramedical staff who will be hired on an outsourced basis,” Mr. Srinivasa Rao told officials.

The Minister’s review meeting on Wednesday comes in the wake of his visit to VIMS on August 3 where he interacted extensively with doctors, staff and patients.

He said that an additional 55 doctors will also be appointed. He called upon the staff to take the mobile numbers of the relatives of patients along with the patients’ details. This was important to inform the relatives on the condition of the patient, especially in an emergency, he said.

Joint Collector Govinda Rao, DM&HO S. Tirupathi Rao, and Andhra Medical College principal P.V. Sudhakar were present.
