Children's film festival from August 24

CUDDAPAH, AUG. 21. A six-day Children's Film Festival will be held in major towns in Cuddapah district from August 24 to August 29, according to the district Collector, Jayesh Ranjan.

Films that have been specially produced to imbue the spirit of courage, adventure and confidence, preaching social service and respect for elders and those aimed at dispelling beliefs on superstitions and evil customs from the minds of young children were chosen, he said in a statement on Saturday.

The films were sponsored by the Children's Film Society of India, Chennai, and would be screened in select theatres between 8.30 a.m. and 10.30 a.m. over the next six days, so that students' studies and exams were not disrupted, he added.

The following films - Ganga Bhavani, Gunapaatham, Babu Gopal, Naaneema, The Goal, Bhaago Bhootham - would be screened in the festival.

The films would be screened at nine cinema theatres in Cuddapah on August 24, at Rayachoti, Kamalapuram and Yerraguntla on August 25, Rajampet and Kodur on August 26, Badvel and Porumamilla on August 27, Pulivendula and Jammalamadugu on August 28 and at Proddatur and Mydukur on August 29, he stated.


The Collector exhorted the headmasters and school teachers to make arrangements for taking students to these films and their safe return. He asked the DEO, V.P. Pulla Reddy, DPRO, B. Srinivasulu Reddy and the headmasters and teachers to ensure the success of the children's film festival.
