HYDERABAD: Eighteen-month-old Vaishnavi, who was critically injured in the attack by dacoits at L.B. Nagar, succumbed to her injuries on Monday morning at Osmania General Hospital.

The toll in the attack rose to three with the death of Vaishnavi whose parents -- M.K. Visveswara Rao and Vijayalakshmi -- were done to death by the offenders.

The Cyberabad police formed seven special teams. Some of them were sent to Maharashtra, Karnakata and Madhya Pradesh in search of the Pardhi and Kanjarbhat gangs as their involvement was suspected in the gruesome killings.

Eyes donated

Notwithstanding the trauma, Rao's relatives donated the eyes of the child to LV Prasad's Eye Institute. Heart-rending scenes were witnessed at the hospital with the victim's grandmother, T. Lalitha Devi, crying uncontrollably.

The only surviving member of Rao's family, four-year-old Vagdevi, reportedly told her grandmother that the robbers were four in number.

"We woke up when mother started shouting. They hit mother on the head with pestle," the police quoted the girl as saying.

The brigands attacked the girl too when she started crying, they stated. Doctors discharged the girl as her condition was stable.
