KURNOOL: The president of Rayalaseema Hakkula Ikya Vedika, T.G. Venkatesh, has said members of the Cabinet Sub-committee on Telangana promised to grant one more hearing to them before finalising the report.

Talking to reporters on Saturday, Mr. Venkatesh said representatives of the vedika briefed members on the backwardness of the Rayalaseema region much before Telangana delegation did it. The panel was presented facts and figures in comparison with Andhra and Telangana.

Mr. Venkatesh said the vedika would convene a meeting with intellectuals and representatives of various sections from Rayalaseema immediately after the panel presented its report.

He urged members of the panel to take into consideration the sentiments of the region before giving its opinion.

On the remarks made against the Panchayat Raj Minister, J.C. Diwakar Reddy, for his comments on Hyderabad city, Mr. Venkatesh took exception to criticising him for expressing his views.

He said a lot of wealth was dumped on developing Hyderabad. He demanded a compensation of Rs. 50,000 crores for the Rayalaseema region, and said they were ready for a debate on the subject.

Mr. Venkatesh planned a convention of backward areas with leaders from Rayalaseema and North Coastal Andhra.
