BSNL Independence Day bonanza

HYDERABAD, AUG. 14. For the first time in Andhra Pradesh, customers of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), falling under the jurisdiction of Hyderabad Telecom District (HTD), will pay less and talk more, thanks to tariff plans specially designed to suit individual needs.

New tariff plan

On the eve of Independence Day, the Principal General Manager, HTD, C. Govardhan, announced new tariff plan for landline customers in addition to the existing plans.

They included monthly rentals of Rs.260, Rs.500, Rs. 1,000, Rs.1,500 and Rs.2,250. The value of free calls offered with these plans are Rs.192, Rs.522, Rs.1050, Rs.1,620 and Rs.2610, respectively.

Interestingly, it is only in the first plan of Rs.260 that a customer gets Rs. 192 worth of free calls and finally ends up paying Rs.68 for using the telephone. In all the other plans, the customer has the option of either getting more than what he/she will pay at the end of the month, or just what he/she uses during the billing period, in case of high callers.

The plans are a first, as far as over a dozen states are concerned and go to the credit of HTD for proposing it first and getting them approved.

Mr. Govardhan said the option to change rested with the customer.

Those who did not wish to exercise the option would be automatically located in Plan 250, which came with a rental of Rs.250 and Rs.50 worth of free calls.
