Bomb hurled at sarpanch's house

GUNTUR: Unidentified persons hurtled bombs at the house of Kancheragunta village sarpanch in Durgi mandal of Guntur district, partially damaging it on Friday evening. None were injured.

The sarpanch, Koppula Janayya, was away in Durgi town. Janayya's wife Venkata Ramana was murdered by some persons two years ago and two were arrested in this connection.

In another incident at Adigoppula, an illegal shop was destroyed by naxalites early on Friday, and the owner Sheik Mohiuddin, 70, was beaten up with sticks. He was left off with a warning not to continue the business any longer.

Woman attacked

A woman was grievously injured when some unidentified persons attacked her at Kolagutla village in the morning. The woman, Chagam Saidamma, 35, was brought to Guntur for treatment. A dog squad was sent to trace the offenders.
