Black day passes off peacefully

Karimnagar: MIM district unit members have observed `black day' on Wednesday and staged a dharna in front of the Collectorate in protest against the demolition of Babri Masjid in Ayodhya in 1992.

MIM district president Syed Wahajuddin, Karimnagar Municipal Corporation Deputy Mayor Md. Sami, corporators Md. Sajid Ali, Syed Ghulam Ahmed Hussain, Md. Imran and others participated in the dharna. Earlier, they took out a rally in the town denouncing the demolition of the masjid.

Sangareddy staff reporter writes: The day passed on peacefully in all major towns of Medak without any untoward incident. In Sangareddy town hundreds of young men took out a procession from Nalsabgadda area to the Collector office.

Most of the shops and private establishments were closed. In Zaheerabad and Siddipet, rallies were organised. In Gajwel, youth took out a silent march and submitted a petition to the Mandal Revenue officer.

Nizambad staff reporter writes: Muslim observed bandh in minority areas of Nizamabad, Bodhan, Kamareddy, Armoor and in certain other towns in the district.

Wearing black badges the minority leaders erected black flags at the main junctions. As the police imposed Section 144 across the district, they were denied to take out rallies.

However, in Armoor, when they were going in procession from a mosque to the Mandal Revenue Office, the police stopped them and later allowed them to submit a memorandum to the MRO.
