Bankers told to focus on non-farm sector

KURNOOL, NOV. 29. The Collector, Vikas Raj, has asked bankers to support the non-farm sector, which has potential to provide employment to rural people in a big way.

Addressing a one-day orientation programme for bankers here on Monday, he said the size of landholdings was declining every year.

The income from some holdings was unable to support the financial needs of families.

Mr. Vikas Raj underscored the need for developing the non-farm sector to relieve pressure on the agriculture sector. He said there was great scope for finding new jobs under the services sector.

Even rural areas required certain services, which offered potential for new employment.
