KAMAREDDY (NIZAMABAD DT.): Union Minister of State for Rural Development A. Narendra has condemned the re-imposition of ban on the CPI (Maoist) and also the arrest of Revolutionary Writers' Association leaders - P. Varavara Rao and G. Kalyan Rao.

Addressing a press conference on Friday, he said re-imposition of the ban on the naxalite outfit and its affiliations would not solve the vexed problem.

Moreover, it would lead to police excesses in villages of naxalite-affected areas, he alleged.

The Government had a responsibility to tell people as to why it lifted the ban, held talks with them and why it re-imposed it.

As regards the Telangana Rashtra Samithi's alliance with the Congress in the coming municipal elections, he said the ball was in the court of the latter.

Mr. Narendra said that the Cabinet sub-committee on Telangana headed by Defence Minister Pranab Mukherjee would again meet by the month-end.
