Award for Maris Stella College principal

VIJAYAWADA, SEPT. 14. "Every person has in-born talent. Great personalities like Hellen Keller and Beethoven did not know what they were doing at the initial stage of their careers. But their high confidence-level helped them scale great heights in life," said Sister Theresa, the principal of Maris Stella Girls' College.

Sister Theresa has been adjudged one of the best principals of the educational institutions across the State. The recognition was bestowed on her by the Andhra Pradesh Minorities Educational Institutions' Society on the occasion of Teachers' Day.

"On the personal front, the award does not make any difference to me. But, it does give a sense of satisfaction and a sense of pride to the staff and students of the college. I am happy for them," she said modestly.

A source of inspiration

The principal says more than an achievement, she takes the award as an inspiration to work with renewed vigour and zeal for betterment of the institution and its pupils.

"The role of a teacher has far exceeded what it used to be in the past. The present education scenario is more challenging making it mandatory for teachers to commit themselves to their job," she said.

The college staffers' association felicitated her by presenting a shawl and a gift and the students, on their part, also honoured their principal for her achievement.
