AU keen on more MoUs with industry

University-industry interaction to help both the academics and industry

VISAKHAPATNAM: Andhra University is contemplating on entering into more memoranda of understanding (MoU) with local industries and national and international institutions, Vice-Chancellor of Andhra University L. Venugopal Reddy said on Thursday.

Delivering the inaugural address at the two-day national conference of Mechanical Engineering Students, MESCON-2005, he pointed out that the university-industry interaction would help both the academics and industry.

The A.U. academicians and scientists should help solve the problem of the industry, he felt and added that consultancy services would be strengthened in order to provide solutions to various problems of the industry.

Prof. Reddy also stated that the students would be exposed to industry and imparted technical and practical knowledge.


In the wake of globalisation and private competitions, universities should change their mindset and prepare to meet the challenges posed by the private universities, he said. He also released a souvenir brought out on the occasion.

Director (Personnel) of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant K. Ayyappa Reddy, who also spoke advised the engineering students to improve their communication skills besides technical skills.

Globalisation and improvement in communication technologies are forcing our students to accept the changes and update their knowledge from time to time, he observed.
