VIJAYAWADA: The Krishna Urban District Arya Vysya Sangham has threatened to continue their agitation till the Union Minister and Telangana Rashtra Samithi leader, K. Chandrasekhara Rao, resigns from the Union Cabinet.

Addressing a meeting organised at Potti Sriramulu statue at Prakasam Barrage Centre here on Saturday, the sangham president and City Congress Secretary, Darisi Srinivasu, said that the remarks of the Union Minister against Potti Sriramulu were unfortunate and that Mr. Rao seemed to have no knowledge of the historical role played by Sriramulu in linguistic and social movements.

Mr. Srinivasu said that Mr. Rao had no moral right to talk about a legendary leader who had laid down his life for the formation of Andhra Pradesh. He challenged the TRS leader to go on a fast-unto-death like Sriramulu, in order to achieve Telangana. Members of the sangham raised slogans against the TRS leader and burnt his effigy on the occasion. They also performed ksheerabhishekam' (cleaning with milk) for Potti Sriramulu statue.

Expressing solidarity, the Congress BC cell leader, Karnati Venkateswara Rao, the NSUI city president, Mr. Raju, and others took part. The TDP urban president, Gadde Rammohan, the general secretary, Nagula Meera, were present.
