Commodity pricesThe following were the prices (per kg) of essential commodities in the local wholesale market on Saturday, according to Vijayawada Chamber of Commerce and Industry: Groundnut oil- 48.50, palmolein oil-41, sunflower oil-47, tamarind (flower variety)-28 to 36, tamarind (karipuli variety)-42 to 48, chillies-30 to 35, rice (2716)-13, rice (super fine)-15, rice (sona masoori)-16 to 17, rice (samba masoori)-15 to 16, black gram-36 and red gram-23 to 27.50.

`Anti-Imperialism Day'The Communist Party of India (Marxist) has given a call to observe March 23 the death anniversary of Bhagat Singh as the "Anti-Imperialism day". District secretary V. Umamaheswara Rao in a statement said programmes would be held all over Krishna district.

IPM centreThe Federation of Farmers' Associations has appealed to the Ministry of Agriculture not to shift the Integrated Pest Management Centre from Vijayawada to Hyderabad. Krishna district general secretary P.S.R Das in a statement said the shifting of the centre would be a severe blow to the farmers of Coastal Andhra. Hyderabad had three such institutes already, he said.
