Gannavaram airport recorded a maximum temperature of 31.5 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 17.1 degrees Celsius on Monday. Humidity, which was 74 per cent in the morning, dropped to 60 per cent in the evening.

Honour for Loyola


S. Narendra Babu, a student of the Andhra Loyola College, won the first prize in weapon black belt event of the Smt. Kesari Memorial 7th National Open Karate and Kung Fu Championship 2004 held in Khammam. Mr. Babu also won the second prize in black belt Kata event.

The tournament was conducted under the supervision of Jallela Srinivasa Rao of Suman Budokan International Karate Academy and noted Telugu film actor, Suman, distributed prizes to the winners.

Call for protest

The Andhra Pradesh Vyavasaya Karmika Sangham has called upon the people to observe relay hunger strikes in front of all the District Collectorates and Mandal Revenue Offices in the State on December 13 in protest against the delay in the distribution of land to the landless poor.

The Sangham secretary, Jelli Wilson, said in a press release on Monday that there was more than 1 crore acres of land in the possession of the Government, but no steps were being initiated to distribute the land among the poor.
