Gannavaram airport recorded a maximum temperature of 29.4 degree Celsius and a minimum of 21.7 degree Celsius on Saturday. Humidity which was 95 per cent in the morning dropped to 78 per cent in the evening. Rainfall of 16.7 mm was also recorded.

Power shutdown

There will be no power supply between 7 a.m. and 12 noon on Sunday in some areas under the Patamata section following a pre-arranged shutdown for taking up reinforcement of conductor and shifting of poles. The affected areas are: Third road industrial estate, part of Industrial estate, Farm Steel Road, Continental Wines, Liners India and B.J. Liners.

The following are the prices (in rupees per kg) of the essential commodities in the local wholesale markets on Saturday, according to the Vijayawada Chamber of Commerce and Industry: groundnut oil: Rs. 53, palmolein oil: Rs. 45, sunflower oil: Rs. 53, tamarind (flower variety): Rs. 31 to 35, tamarind (karipuli variety): Rs. 40 to 45, chillies (AC): Rs. 24 to 28, chillies (non-AC): Rs. 14 to 18, rice (2716): Rs. 13, rice (superfine): Rs. 14 to 15, rice (sona masoori): Rs. 15 to 16, black gram: Rs. 19 to 25, red gram: Rs. 28.50 to 33.

Customer meet

The Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited, Vijayawada telecom district, will hold customers meetings at all divisional headquarters and SSA headquarters between 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday.

Subsidised feed supply

In view of the problems faced by poultry farmers due to steep hike in the prices of feed, the National Egg Coordination Committee has decided to supply 2,000 tonnes of feed at a subsidised price of Rs. 50 per quintal to the farmers in the Krishna district. Farmers can avail the opportunity by contacting the NECC Vijayawada zonal office (on telephone no. 0866-2450457). The payments for the required quantity of the feed should be made before July 30.
