At Waltair, the maximum temperature was 31.7 degrees Celsius and the minimum 23.6 degrees Celsius on Saturday. Humidity at 8.30 a.m. was 86 per cent and at 5.30 p.m was 78 per cent. Rainfall at 8.30 a.m. was 32.6 mm.

At Airport, the maximum and minimum temperatures were 34.4 degrees Celsius and 26 degrees Celsius respectively. Humidity at 8.30 a.m. was 79 per cent and at 5.30 p.m was 68 per cent. Rainfall at 8.30 a.m. was 12.5 mm.

The maximum and minimum temperatures at the Dolphin's Nose were 30.9 degrees Celsius and 23.6 degrees Celsius respectively. Humidity at 8.30 a.m. was 83 per cent. Rainfall at 8.30 a.m. was 2 mm.

Train service suspended

Narrow gauge train services between Naupada and Gunupur have been suspended from Saturday due to gauge conversion work being taken up on the section, according to an official press release.

Cricket at Green Park

Green Park will relay the India vs. Pakistan match live on a giant screen at Escape for its customers in a specially created cricketing ambience. There will be several fun contests and offers such as guess the batsman/team score, first batsman to hit a six, first bowler to take five wickets in a game etc. One round of free drinks will be offered to winners of lucky table prizes.

Free training for kids

The Bala Vikas Foundation will organise painting and chess classes every Sunday for children in the 8-16 age group at its centre in Ramnagar from July 25. The chess class will be conducted from 9 a.m. to 10.30 a.m. followed by painting. Details can be had from the BVF secretary, Narava Prakasa Rao (cell: 94406-75955).

Hindi workshop

Forty employees from different departments took part in the one-day Hindi workshop conducted at NTPC-Simhadri on Friday under the tutelage of the assistant director of the Hindi teaching scheme of the Union Government, Sarat Chandra Jha. The General Manager, R. Rama Rao, inaugurated the programme. The General Manager (HR) of NTPC Southern Region, C. Vijaya Kumar, spoke.


The General Manager of Simhadri Thermal Power Project of NTPC, R. Rama Rao, has felicitated a student of Paravada, A.V.V. Satyanarayana, on his admission into National Institute of Technology (REC), Warangal, and N. Navya, for her participation in the 10th Asian Roller Skating Championship in Japan as a member of the Indian contingent. Employees of STPP are contributing to the college fees of Satyanarayana, a needy student who secured 16th rank in EAMCET and obtained a seat in NIT through the all-India competitive test.

`Rubco' launches sales

The Kerala State Rubber Cooperative Limited launched the sale of `Rubco' rubberised coir mattress in the city on Saturday.

The Rubco marketing manager, P.B. Satagopan, said the Rs.280-crore conglomerate with diversified operations, had selected Vizag for introducing the mattress as it had a good potential for marketing. He said that they were expecting 10 per cent of the market share in the first year, accounting for a turnover of Rs.3.6 crores a year.
