At Waltair, the maximum temperature was 30.8 degree Celsius and the minimum was 23.5 degree Celsius respectively on Wednesday. Humidity at 8.30 a.m. and at 5.30 p.m. were 79 per cent and 75 per cent respectively.

At Airport, the maximum and minimum temperatures were 35.0 degree Celsius and 23.0 degree Celsius respectively, while humidity at 8.30 a.m. was 69 per cent and at 5.30 p.m. was 56 per cent.

At Dolphin's Nose, the maximum temperature was 31.0 degree Celsius and minimum temperature was 22.3 degree Celsius and humidity at 8.30 a.m. was 67 per cent.

Naval expedition team returns

A 14-member team of the Eastern Naval Command, which undertook a bicycle expedition from INS Kalinga to Tyda village in Araku valley, returned to the base on Wednesday.

The team cycled a distance of 200 km. both ways. It interacted with people in villages, including schoolchildren and campaigned for adult literacy, personal hygiene, health education and AIDS awareness.

VUDA warning

Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority (VUDA) has warned people against purchasing house sites in survey no. 372/2 of Kapuluppada panchayat and in survey no. 8/1 of Madhurawada panchayat.

According to a VUDA communique, the layouts in the above locations have been developed by unscrupulous persons, who have not obtained the Layout Plan (LP). The VUDA officials have cautioned prospective buyers against transacting any business in the said layouts and that they would be doing so at their own risk.

Neither VUDA nor the civic bodies would permit any construction on these sites. Buyers intending to know about the genuineness of the house-sites under VUDA limits can get details from the officials of the Planning Department in VUDA or on phone no. (0891) 2754133.

Polypropylene pipes launched

Builders in the city would have another material for their plumbing work, apart from regular galvanized iron (GI) and PVC pipes.

Kwin Marketing and Radha International of Chennai launched the new imported polypropylene (PPR) pipes on Tuesday.

According to Balaji of Radha International, the pipes are manufactured by the Istanbul-based piping giant, Alfatherm, with the help of the latest German technology having DIN 8077-8078 standards.
