Animal kingdom coming on an expedition to Vijayawada

VIJAYAWADA: Elephants, camels, horses, hippopotamus and African parrots are coming to the city to entertain the kids here. Kerala-based Great Bombay Circus Company will organise jumbo circus shows with over 250 artistes and a few dozens of animals and birds from July 15.

Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, the manager of the company, Walsaraj, said that theirs was one the oldest circus companies in India that had given numerous performances across the country. "Once we had animals like sea lions, orangutan, gorilla, chimpanzee and brown bear. Due to the restrictions imposed by the Government, we have reduced the number of animals and increased special attractions," he said and added that as many as six artistes from Russia would perform feats like juggling, bricks balancing, ring boneless act and rope act.

Explaining some attractive features of their show, he said that the skywalk, comic chair act, Russian doll act, cycling, dog show and fish act would attract children as well as adults.

The performances would begin with the opening show at 7 p.m. on July 15 and there would be three shows everyday at 1 p.m., 4 p.m., and 7 p.m. The ticket price for the dress circle would be Rs. 75, it would be Rs. 40 for the first class and Rs. 20 for the gallery. The circus would be in the city for 45 days.

The assistant manager of the company, T.V. Rajeev, was also present.
