All set for inauguration of film society auditorium tomorrow

KARIMNAGAR: Stage is set for inauguration of the film society auditorium in the town, which is claimed to be the first in Andhra Pradesh and second in the country after Bangalore.

The auditorium, constructed at a cost of Rs. 20 lakhs, will be inaugurated by Minister for Sports, Culture and Cinematography M. Satyanarayana Rao on Monday.

The Karimnagar Film Society, which came into being in 1977, is the first film society in the State to have its own auditorium to screen award-winning and children's films as well.

The auditorium has a seating capacity of 200 and is equipped with LCD projector, 35 mm and 16 mm projectors and also state-of-the-art audio system.

The district administration has given Rs. 16 lakhs to the society. Members of society have contributed Rs. 4 lakhs to complete the auditorium.

The film society has been conducting several film festivals, including international events. It has screened German, French, Chinese and Korean films.

Children's films

Film society secretary V. Anand says that film clubs will be constituted in schools. It has also been decided to screen children's films on second Saturday and Sunday.

Collector C. Parthasarathi, Film Federation Society of India regional secretary S.S. Prakash Reddy and others will also attend the inaugural function.
