VISAKHAPATNAM: The Federation of Government and Aided College Teachers' Associations has threatened to launch an agitation if the State Government continues to be apathetic to their woes.

Talking to mediapersons here on Saturday, the Andhra Pradesh Government College Gazetted Teachers' Association (GCTA) general secretary, S. Laxminarayana, said that while the teachers welcomed the Government move to take over aided degree and junior colleges, the lack of understanding on the part of officials caused them problems.

``Chapter 11 Sec. 73 and 74 of the Andhra Pradesh Education Act has clearly mentioned that the teachers of aided degree and junior colleges which have been taken over by the Government as they were not run properly, should be treated as a separate unit. But this has not been implemented till date due to which many problems, particularly with respect to seniority, have cropped up,'' he pointed out.
