Advantage BJP, says Venkaiah Naidu

HYDERABAD Dec. 24. The BJP president, M. Venkaiah Naidu, has said there is no stopping the party going by its recent electoral performance and it is "advantage BJP,'' speaking in tennis terms, for the next Lok Sabha polls.

The BJP wave was palpable in the entire country, Mr. Naidu told a public meeting in connection with the Assembly constituency-wise Jana Chaitanya sadassus of the party in the Musheerabad segment here on Wednesday.

He maintained that the party would seek vote in the Assembly and Lok Sabha elections based on development that had taken place in the country. Since five years was not enough to usher in development on a scale befitting a large country, the party would appeal to people to give it another chance.

The country has grown to a position to extend loan to 13 countries having built up a foreign exchange reserve of $ 100 billions under the leadership of the Prime Minister, A.B. Vajpayee, Mr. Naidu said adding that Mr. Vajpayee was sure to remain in office for the next 13 years.

He was Prime Minister for 13 days on the first occasion, 13 months on the second and was well on way to complete 13 years in the third term.

The BJP president emphasised that peace was important for development but the naxalite violence hindered the same in the State.

The Union Minister of State for Urban Development, B. Dattatreya, said the unity moves among the Opposition in the State were made out of "opportunism.''

The BJP State president, N. Indrasena Reddy, and former Musheerabad MLA of BJP, K. Laxman, also spoke.
