Academics focus on quality

Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD: Quality is the byword and teachers are no exception. That was amply proved when Directors of UGC Academic Staff Colleges (ASCs) discussed issues like lack of teachers' preparedness to meet new challenges and declining quality of research.

At a conference hosted by University of Hyderabad (UoH) here on Monday, I. Ramabrahmam, Director-ASC, UoH, said that 56 recommendations were made to tone up staff colleges. In all, 52 Directors presented views on the progress achieved by staff colleges in terms of number of courses. Diversity of issues that emerged showed as to how each college employed strategy to fulfil the benchmarks stipulated for quality.
