Yoga guru’s remarks in bad taste

The vitriolic criticism by highly regarded yoga guru Baba Ramdev on who should head the TTD is not only in bad taste but also gives rise to suspicion about his intentions in propagating yoga for the benefit of the people. Being in liquor business is no bar to be an ardent devotee or to be well-wisher of humanity. Liquor business is not illegal. Instead of taking a dig at TTD chairman for his activity, it would have been more appropriate had the Baba advocated total prohibition.

Pensioners’ woes: plea to bank

The Central Government was kind enough to grant 20 per cent additional increase on revised basic pension with dearness relief as a boon to pensioners who completed 80 years with effect from January 1, 2006, duly considering their advanced age on the recommendations of the VI Central Pay Commission. But due to bank staff wrongly noting down the date of birth as well as retirement date of the pensioner, they are deprived of the benefit once and for all. Though a representation has been made to the SBI Centralised pension processing cell in Saifabad, Hyderabad, there is no response. The bank should take appropriate measures to render justice.

Ply more buses to VUDA Park

Due to inadequate bus service between R.K. Beach and VUDA Park, the people are forced to travel by auto/share auto. I request the authorities to operate more buses on this stretch for the benefit of passengers bound for VUDA Park. Children attending skating classes at VUDA Park and senior citizens will be benefited if buses plying on route No. 28 are extended up to VUDA Park or a new route introduced from VUDA Park to Complex via Collectorate, ZP and R.K. Beach.

Official clarifies on KVP certificates

This has reference to the letter published in these columns on January 26, 2009. “Enquiries revealed that the Kisan Vikas Patra certificates held in the name of K. Latchanna were discharged on January 21 when the investor attended the post office. He was duly assisted for opening of a joint savings bank account along with his wife. He desired to withdraw the amount later and all arrangements have been made to allow the withdrawal on the date he desired. In this connection, this is to intimate that there is no bar in allowing discharge of cash certificates and crediting the proceeds in post office savings bank account on the same day as per POSB rules and guidelines. The post office staff of the P&T Colony post office has been duly guided to attend to the customers in such a way as not to raise any issues of communication gap. In case of any further difficulty, the customers can always contact 0891-2546237 and 2546238 for help. However, the issue that caused a public grievance is regretted and we assure all possible assistance in customer service.”
