VISAKHAPATNAM: A van driver was killed and the cleaner injured when the van collided with a bus at Gurudwara junction on Saturday.

According to Fourth Town SI (Traffic) K. Nagaraju Babu, the private Volvo bus was coming from Hyderabad to Visakhapatnam. It was taking a turn at the junction on the National Highway (NH-5) when the van from Tamil Nadu, which was carrying fish, was going towards NAD junction. The van hit the front portion of the bus and overturned. The bus hit the road divider and came to halt. Had the bus overturned there would have been many casualties.

The accident occurred at 7.20 a.m. Local people and passers by gathered in large numbers and tried to pull out the van driver whose legs were trapped under the seat. EMRI 108 ambulance shifted the driver to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Fourth Town police are investigating the case.
