VUDA urged to supply plants for C’wealth Games

VISAKHAPATNAM: A team consisting of CEO of New Delhi Parks and Gardens Society SB Singh, Horticulture Director of New Delhi Municipal Council Subhash Chandra and Assistant Director Ravindra Kumar met Vice Chairman of the Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority (VUDA) B Sreedhar on Monday to discuss the status of plants supply to the venues of the forthcoming Commonwealth Games.

The games are scheduled to be held during October this year at New Delhi and VUDA was requested to supply 10 lakh plants to green, landscape and decorate the venues. VUDA has agreed to supply the same and 50 percent of the plants in Commonwealth Games would be the share of VUDA. The Vice-Chairman assured the team that the required plants would be transported to the venues within the stipulated time. He further said by the end of June all the 10 lakh plants would be sent. The Vice-Chairman directed M.V.A. Krishna Murthy, DFO of VUDA, to complete arrangements for pooling the plants from all the identified sources. VUDA has already sent 75,000 saplings to New Delhi during November.
