VUDA lines up programmes for I-Day

The monthly comedy programme ‘Vinodavallari' and a host of other items will be presented at Gurajada Kalakshetram on Sunday evening, coinciding with the Independence Day celebrations.

Colourful items, and patriotic songs sung by legendary singer Ghantasala will be presented by T. Govind, brother of Master T Sharathchandra. He will also render poems from ‘Krishnarjuna Samvadam', composed and sung by Ghantasala, along with Hariprasad Suri. Burrakatha, ‘August 15' specially composed by Dasari brothers of Mandapeta will also be staged. Short play “Mantri Maridaiah” by the members of Creative Comedy Club and skits by Laughter's Fun Club of Steel Plant etc. comprise the ‘Vinodavallari' programme on the day.

Children below 12 years may participate in the fancy dress competition to be conducted on the day wearing the costumes of freedom fighters, national leaders and patriots. Names can be enrolled with Tirunagari Sai Prakash on 9885124679. They should turn up at Gurajada Kalakshetram at 5.30 p.m. on the day.

GVMC Commissioner V.N. Vishnu, VUDA Vice-Chairman B. Sreedhar and former minister and freedom fighter Bhattam Sreerammurthy will attend the programme. Music director and singer Sivala Raghuram will be honoured with Sri Kanaka Mahalakshmi Flower Fantasy Abhinandana Satkaram. Entry is free.
