VISAKHAPATNAM: The Visakha Container Terminal Private Limited (VCTPL) has evinced keen interest to invest in the proposed logistic park at Achyutapuram.

A delegation from VCTPL, which operates a container terminal at the Visakhapatnam Port, visited the area. “Whosoever is genuinely interested, we are ready to give the site with all requisite support,” AP Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC) Chairman and Managing Director B.P. Acharya said on Thursday.

Mr. Acharya , who reviewed the progress of Jawahar Pharma City and Brandix Apparel Park, said most of the infrastructure including internal roads, drainage, drinking water supply, power sub-station and other things had been put in place.

He made the suggestion after reviewing the progress of Jawahar Pharma City, Brandix Apparel Park and the country’s largest multi-product SEZ developed at Achyutparam.

Mr. Acharya observed that VCTPL had all the requisite facilities for the exporters in the SEZ and hence, they should set up the logistic park here instead of routing their cargoes through Chennai or Ennore. He said the VCTPL should offer the possible freight rates to the exporters and the APIIC on its part would enable the establishment of the logistics park for the mutual benefit of the entrepreneurs in the SEZ as well as the container terminal.

Earlier, VCTPL COO Sriram Ravi Chander and Deputy COO Sushil Mulchandani had a discussion with Mr. Acharya, APIIC Chief Engineer Sathi Reddy, Zonal Manager (projects) Ch.V.V.S. Prasad.

Mr. Acharya said scenario was bright for the SEZ, Pharma City and Brandix Apparel Park. He said four units had gone into production and four more were under construction at the SEZ. At Pharma City, 14 units have gone into production and 13 more getting ready. Some of the units in the Brandix Apparel Park are ready. As of now, 3,000 jobs have been created.

Pilkington Automotive India Private Limited which set up a unit to manufacture windscreens for vehicles started trial production on Thursday.

Expressing happiness at the early construction of the unit, Mr. Acharya advised the management to provide jobs to the locals to the maximum extent.
