Two students of CBR Foundation bag medals

GUNTUR: Two trainees of CBR Academy running on the Acharya Nagarjuna University bagged a silver and a gold medal at the 24th National Junior athletics championships conducted by the Karnataka Athletic Association at Chamundivihar Stadium in Mysore from November 12 to 16.

University Vice-Chancellor Y.R. Haragopala Reddy felicitated the winners N. Sivakumar - gold in 200 mts. and B. Vanitha - silver in 3,000 mts. running. University Physical Education Department professor V. Vinayaka Prasad accompanied the students for the Under-20, Under-18 and Under - 16 and 14 events held at Mysore.

Around 2,600 athletes and officials from 26 states took part. This was a prelude for selecting the Indian junior team and also the team for the Commonwealth Games to be held at Delhi in 2010.

Top athletes who had won medals in the Youth Commonwealth Games in Pune also took part in the event and our students could win despite such tough competition, the Vice-Chancellor explained.
