Two ‘harassed’ students attempt suicide

MAHABUBNAGAR: Unable to take any further harassment by the teachers two students of Adarsh High School made a suicide bid at Makthal mandal headquarters on Tuesday.

According to information reaching district headquarters Raju, a Class X student, consumed pesticide on the way to school on Tuesday morning. Residents of the area rushed him to local hospital.

His condition is said to be stable. It is said that Raju stated in the hospital that he has consumed pesticide due to intolerable harassment by the teachers.

In another case Murali Krishna, also a Class X student, cut his throat on Monday night at Rajanagaram village near Wanaparthy town. Murali Krishna, who went to village few days back, also stated the same reason - harassment by teachers forced him to commit suicide.

It is learnt that only recently the parents approached the school authorities and requested them not to punish the students severely but there was no change in the style of functioning of the teachers, lamented a parent.
