Two Chiranjeevis, 2 Karunakars in fray

Staff Reporter

TIRUPATI: Voters had to rub their eyes for clarity while watching the electronic voting machine (EVM) as there were two Chiranjeevis and two Karunakar Reddys in fray for the Tirupati Assembly seat.

While the name of the Praja Rajyam president and party candidate K. Chiranjeevi figured seventh in the list against the ‘rail engine’ symbol, G. Chiranjeevi was also in the list, who was allotted the ‘road-roller’ symbol.

Similarly, the Congress candidate is B. Karunakar Reddy with the ‘hand’ symbol, while P. Karunakar Reddy with ‘almirah’ symbol is also in the fray. While rounding off his campaign a couple of days ago, Mr. Chiranjeevi, while rounding of his campaign here, had accused the Congress of deliberately letting the dummy candidate Chiranjeevi file papers to confuse voters.

However, the Congress blamed neither the PR nor the TDP for the presence of a dummy candidate.
