Breakdown of vehicles compound road users’ problems

HYDERABAD: The city traffic police have asked commuters on their way to Panjagutta and Ameerpet from Secunderabad to use the Neckalace road to avoid traffic jams on Begumpet flyover – Greenlands stretch.

The police request comes in the backdrop of a massive traffic jam on Saturday following a goods van breaking down in the middle of the Begumpet flyover on Saturday afternoon. Harried motorists caught in the jam had to spend more than an hour waiting for the vehicle driver to change the wheel.

The Saturday’s incident was not an isolated one. Two days ago, a city bus and a petrol tanker broke down on the flyover leading to massive traffic jams.

In a statement here on Saturday, ACP T. Ram Sudhakar said that efforts of traffic policemen to ensure smooth flow of traffic were coming to a naught as vehicles are breaking down on the fly-over.

He requested commuters to take diversion at Rasoolpura junction and use the Necklace road.
