Tirupati MP's plea to Manmohan Singh

Chintha Mohan, Member of Parliament, Tirupati, in a letter addressed to the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, has listed six points and requested him to touch upon the points in his customary Independence Day speech to be delivered from the ramparts of the Red Fort.

The six points which the MP has highlighted in his letter are: revision of the Wages Act 1948 to increase the wages as per the price index, allocation of sufficient funds to all Gram Panchayats as part of the historic Constitutional Amendments made to devolve more funds and powers to the local bodies, mid-day meal programme with an egg each included in the menu, enhancement of the wages from the present Rs.100 to Rs.125 under the NGNREGA, extending the Employment Guarantee Programme to the urban areas as well and finally ensuring sufficient number of doctors and enough medicines in all the Primary Health Centres.
