Three-day ‘butterfly meet’ in State

HYDERABAD: The city-based Butterfly Conservation Society will hold a three-day ‘butterfly meet’ for the first time in the State from August 16 in the Maredumilli agency area of East Godavari district.

S. Tej Kumar, president, said in a press release issued here on Saturday that the participants would conduct butterfly surveys in Valamuru, Guntala, G.M.Valasa, Gedada and Sunampandu areas of Maredumilli. Paper presentations on butterfly studies done in other parts of the country would also be a part of the schedule.

According to the release, the densely forested ranges of Eastern Ghats are noted to sustain large populations of uncommon and rare butterflies in their varied habitats.
