Technofest gets good response

Cash prizes of Rs. 40,000 given to the winners

VIJAYAWADA: ‘Technofest-2009’, a national-level meet of students of various engineering disciplines and a competition in presentation of technical papers, organised on the campus of V.R. Siddhartha Engineering College (VRSEC) on Wednesday saw enthusiastic participation of a good number of students.

The event was organised simultaneously in nine engineering and other disciplines – civil, computer science, electronics, electrical, instrumentation, information technology, mechanical & production, MBA and MCA – in which around 200 technical papers were presented.

All India Radio Station Director M. Aditya Prasad, the chief guest of the inaugural function, suggested to the students to develop strong skills in engineering and use them for the benefit of the society.


Siddhartha Academy of General and Technical Education secretary P. L. N. Prasad said that the Academy always sanctioned liberal financial grants to research and development programmes and conferences.

College principal K. Mohana Rao felt that the technical meets such as Technofest would help the students understand latest developments and state-of-the-art technologies.

‘Technofest-2009’ convener N. Vijaya Sai stated that a total of 500 technical papers were received from students of various colleges, and 200 were finally selected for the presentation.

Cash prizes of about Rs. 40,000 were given to the students who presented best technical papers in all departments. College convener P. Lakshmana Rao, English department head K. Ramachandra and others were present.
