Students from all varsities arrive in Nalgonda as part of ‘padayatra’

NALGONDA: Vociferously demanding the resignation of all the elected representatives of the region for the cause of separate Telangana, the leaders of the Telangana Universities Student Joint Action Committee vowed to spearhead the ongoing Statehood movement till the formation of a separate Telangana State.

The pro-Telangana student activists belonging to various universities of Hyderabad including, Osmania University arrived in the town on Monday evening as part of their ‘padayatra’ demanding statehood for Telangana.

They were accorded a grand welcome by the Telangana JAC leaders and a large number of pro-Telangana student activists at the Housing Board Colony.

JAC convener Venkateshwarlu, co-convener G. Amarender Reddy, poet Venu Sankoju and others were present.

Later, addressing a meeting held at the Clock Tower Centre, the JAC student leaders of Hyderabad demanded that the elected representatives from the sarpanch to the Minister-level in the region should quit their posts and get their resignations approved to mount pressure on the Central government carve out separate Telangana State immediately.

Stating that their padayatra would culminate at the Arts College, Kakatiya University, in Warangal on February 7, they asserted that Statehood movement would be further intensified after the yatra.
