HYDERABAD: Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) president K. Chandrasekhar Rao has said the party was now focussed on involvement of students in the separate Telangana movement and assured that their participation would not be like the violent agitation led by them in 1969.

Addressing a training camp for students at the party office here on Saturday, Mr. Rao said the TRS had redefined the separate Telangana movement in the six years of its existence. It ensured that there was no scope for violence. The same practice would be followed in future programmes of the party while involving thousands of students, he said.

Mr. Rao disclosed that he was receiving several telephone calls from students expressing their willingness to plunge into the movement. They were asking him not to bother about their studies. They would spare time for party work in the midst of their academic activity.

Former Vice-Chancellor of Kakatiya University K. Jayashanker said the significance of the participation of students in separate Telangana movements had not receded since 1969.
