TDP concentrates on avoiding rebel trouble in GHMC polls

HYDERABAD: The Telugu Desam Party has focussed its attention on overcoming the rebel trouble looming large over the party in the forthcoming elections to the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation.

With the number of nominations filed on behalf of the party exceeding expectations, TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu has directed senior leaders to concentrate on convincing the aspirants to withdraw their nominations.

The party is yet to come to terms with the exact number of seats it would contest as the talks with the Left parties on seat sharing arrangement are yet to conclude, but more than 400 believed aspirants filed their papers.

The TDP has decided to resolve the issue, before it could become a major irritant in the run up to the elections.

Moreover, the leadership was also not in a position to finalise the campaign schedule of Mr. Naidu till all others withdraw their papers leaving only official candidates in the fray.

Mr. Naidu, it is understood, wants to undertake extensive campaign in all the divisions, the areas where the TDP has considerable strength in particular, to ensure that the party puts up an impressive showMeanwhile, the TDP sought people’s views on the problems being encountered by them in their respective areas
