Students told to donate blood

VIJAYAWADA: Fixing a target of collecting 20,000 units of blood at the ‘Tiranga unity blood donation camp’ to be organised on February 3, Lagadapati Rajagopal, MP, on Wednesday urged the principals of various colleges to motivate their students to participate in the camp.

It is being jointly organised by the district administration and the Krishna district unit of the Indian Red Cross Society at Indira Gandhi Municipal Corporation stadium.

Addressing a meeting with the principals of various colleges, Mr. Rajagopal said that the organisers would meet transport, food and other requirements of the students who would like to donate blood. Over 1,000 beds would be arranged in the stadium for the convenience of the donors.

A free health check up would be conducted on all those who register their names. Sub-Collector Gaurav Uppal said that an awareness rally on blood donation would be taken out on Jan. 30.
