Students lauded for blood donation


The Hindu Editor-in-Chief opens NCC Day celebrations

KARIMNAGAR: N. Ram, Editor-in-Chief, The Hindu, on Thursday inaugurated the four-day National Cadet Corps (NCC) Day celebrations at the SRR Government Degree and PG College here.

He also inaugurated a blood donation camp organised by NCC cadets on the occasion and appreciated the students for donating blood to save a life. About 32 cadets donated blood at the camp, which was organised jointly by the NCC 9 Andhra Battalion and Indian Red Cross society.

Mr Ram, who was in Karimnagar to launch The Hindu Education plus Clubs at the college, also inaugurated the Jawahar Knowledge Centre (JKC) lab and e-language laboratory on the occasion by unveiling plaques. He was impressed with the software and facilities available at the JKC. He said that the JKC was a well-conceived project. Later, the Editor-in-Chief planted a sapling on the college premises organised by the college’s National Service Scheme (NSS) unit.

The students thronged Mr Ram for his autographs and the turnout at the launch of E plus clubs at the college was impressive. The students patiently listened to the inspiring speech of Mr Ram in which he asked them to fulfil their social obligation effectively.
