Santa Claus, tattoo-makers, caricaturists cheer up the people

VIJAYAWADA: The chill factor fades away at the sight of a sparkling Christmas Star. Bright and high, they appear everywhere, just as Xmas trees and other festive fixtures sprout up ubiquitously all over the city, regardless of homes, streets, hotels, restaurants, offices and also at your favourite places.

It is no different this year, as the festive spirit rises and hangs heavily in the air with people hitting upon novel ideas to make their surroundings warm and cosy for visitors. Santa Claus appears at many places bringing the joy of the days. Not just Santa, several most-liked artists like tattoo-makers and caricaturists come to add to the joy of the festival.

Step into a shop, you are greeted with all kinds of Xmas decorations. The lobbies of hotels and restaurants exude new warmth with Christmas trees brightly lighted up with stars, porcupine balls and so on. They have lined up a variety of cultural, entertainment and youth-centric programmes to make the most of the all-pervading festive mood ahead of not just Christmas, but also New Year Day and Sankranthi.

“Our Santa Claus will treat children on December 24 and 25. Not just candies and chocolates, a special offer of free photos will be made to children. We also give our compliments,” says Rajesh Berry, general manager of Hotel DV Manor. He brings in glass blowers, caricaturists and tattoo-makers to make the festival most memorable for children right from December 22.

Food festivals, children’s parties and youth fetes will be special attractions with enthusiastic participants enjoying it all, as if there is no second time. For the devout ones, making Christmas symbols at home becomes a happy and indulgent diversion.

“There will be a children’s party at our hotel to market the festival. Also, a gala buffet will be held at coffee shop,” says Vishal Jamuar, general manager of The Gateway Hotel. Cakes and pastries, chocolates and candies will cheer the people for this season.

The organisers are combining fun, entertainment and education. People have started decorating their homes and streets as well for sharing the joyousness of the days.

Best maintained places now dot with Xmas trees, stars and scores of colourful items that symbolise the uniqueness and intensity of the festive fervour. Meticulous care is being taken every time to bring Santa in bright colours to treat energetic children to the brim.
