Staff shortage derailing welfare works: DRC

NIZAMABAD: The District Review Committee meeting has taken a serious note of lack of doctors in Government Hospitals, Assistant Engineers and Agriculture Officers in Irrigation and Agriculture Departments respectively.

Members who participated in the discussion brought to the notice of the DRC that medical and health services were hit while agriculture extension works and modernisation of water distributaries were also affected due to staff shortage in the said departments.

When Joint Director (Agriculture) R. Narendranath Reddy said 14 AO posts were vacant in the district Minister for Higher Education D. Srinivas assured the members that he would bring the issue to the Government’s notice and ensure that the vacancies are immediately filled on contract basis.

District in-charge and Minister for Major Industries and J. Geeta Reddy said the irregularities if any were found in the selection of progressive farmers they would be rectified.

Responding to Legislator E. Ravinder Reddy’s charge that several irregularities had taken place in selection, the Minister asked the authorities to verify the list in a week and take action.
